Dark Lip Neutralisation – Lip Blush for Melanin-Rich Lips

What Is Dark Lip Neutralisation?

Dark lip neutralisation is a specialised PMU technique that gently corrects cool, dark, or uneven tones in melanin-rich lips.

It’s not about erasing your natural pigment. It’s about lifting and balancing it — so your lips look warmer, more even, and softly enhanced while still looking like you.

Why Do Some Lips Need Neutralising?

If your lips are:

  • Naturally deep brown, purple, or blue-toned

  • Have uneven pigmentation

  • Have experienced darkening from trauma, injury, or previous treatments

…they may need neutralisation first, before standard lip blush can be applied.

This ensures the healed result is smooth, even, and flattering — not grey or muddy.

How Does It Work?

Instead of applying pinks or nudes straight away (which can heal ashy on darker lips), I first use warm, corrector pigments — like oranges, peaches or yellows — to neutralise cool tones.

Then, once the base is lifted, we move into your chosen tone — soft peach, rosewood, caramel, etc. This can take 2 or more sessions depending on your skin tone and goals.

🧠 It’s more technical, yes — but it’s also more tailored and safe.

What Can You Expect?

  • Session 1: Focused on correcting darkness. The result may look orange-ish at first — this is normal.

  • Session 2 (6–8 weeks later): We reassess and start layering your final target colour.

  • Optional 3rd session: For deeper tones or perfection.

Results are:

  • Even, healthy-looking lips

  • Natural warm undertone

  • No more cool/ashy patches

  • Still your lips — just smoother and enhanced

Who Is It For?

Dark lip neutralisation is ideal if you:

  • Have brown, purple or grey tones you’re self-conscious about

  • Want your lips to appear more even in tone

  • Feel like standard lip blush won’t suit your natural colouring

  • Have been told by other PMU artists that you’re “not a candidate”

You absolutely are a candidate — if you’re with an artist who knows what they’re doing.

Why Representation Matters

Most artists still don’t know how to properly treat melanin-rich lips. Some avoid it entirely. Some use the wrong pigment — and leave clients with dull or disappointing results.

At Natural Lip Blush, I believe beauty should be accessible, respectful, and tailored — for everyone, not just one skin tone.

Every consultation includes:

  • Tone assessment

  • Colour plan

  • Honest conversation about sessions and healing

Healing & Aftercare

Healing after neutralisation is similar to regular lip blush:

  • Some swelling + dryness

  • Slight peeling around Day 3–6

  • Colour fades slightly before settling in

I'll walk you through aftercare step-by-step, and you’ll have my direct contact for healing support.
