FAQs

What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent tattoo that enhances the natural colour, shape, and definition of your lips. It gives a soft tint—like a sheer lipstick or tinted balm—that lasts for years.

How long does lip blush last?
Lip blush typically lasts between 2 to 3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. You may choose to refresh it every 12–18 months for a consistently radiant look.

Does the treatment hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as a light scratch or minor discomfort. We apply a numbing cream beforehand to ensure you're comfortable throughout the session.

How long does the procedure take?
The entire appointment usually lasts 2.5 to 3 hours, including your consultation, colour-matching, mapping, and the treatment itself.

What will my lips look like right after?
Immediately after, your lips will appear brighter and more intense than the final result. As they heal over 5–10 days, the colour softens by about 40–60%, revealing a more natural blush.

Is there any downtime?
Healing typically takes about a week. During this time, lips may feel dry, slightly flaky, or tender. Most clients return to normal activities the same day—just avoid makeup, kissing, and spicy foods while healing.

How do I choose the right colour?
Don’t worry—we’ll guide you! During your consultation, we’ll choose the perfect shade together based on your skin tone, natural lip colour, and style preference.

What’s the difference between Classic Lip Blush and Neutralisation?

  • Classic Lip Blush is perfect for naturally pink, pale, or evenly toned lips.

  • Lip Neutralisation is recommended for darker, uneven, or cool-toned lips, and involves warm pigments to correct tone before adding your chosen shade.

Can I still wear lipstick after getting lip blush?
Absolutely! Lip blush gives you a beautiful base, but you can still wear lipstick or gloss over it whenever you like.

Who is not a good candidate for lip blush?
Lip blush is not suitable for those who are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Prone to cold sores (unless taking antiviral medication)

  • Undergoing chemotherapy

  • Have active skin infections or healing issues
Always consult with your technician if you're unsure

Does lip blush hurt?
We get this question all the time—and the answer is: not really! Most clients describe the feeling as a light scratching or tingling sensation. A topical numbing cream is applied before and during the treatment to keep you as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Some even say they nearly fell asleep!

How soon do I need a top-up?
A perfecting session (top-up) is recommended 6 to 8 weeks after your first appointment. This allows us to adjust the colour, touch up any areas that may have faded during healing, and ensure your lips heal beautifully and evenly.

Do I have to get a top-up?
While it’s not mandatory, the top-up is highly recommended to get the best, longest-lasting result. Think of it as sealing the colour and refining the final look—it’s where the magic really comes together.

Will my lips swell after the treatment?
Yes, a little swelling is completely normal right after your appointment, especially in the first 24 hours. It’s usually mild and goes down quickly. Applying a cold compress (gently!) can help reduce it.

What if I get cold sores?
If you're prone to cold sores, you must take an antiviral medication (like acyclovir) a few days before and after your appointment. Lip blush can trigger a flare-up, so prevention is key. Always speak with your doctor if you’re unsure.

Can I wear makeup or gloss after lip blush?
Not immediately—you’ll need to let your lips heal naturally, which takes around 5 to 10 days. After that, yes! You can still wear lip products, but you’ll likely love the natural tint enough to skip them.

How long until I see the final result?
After your appointment, your lips will heal and soften over 7–10 days, but the final colour settles in by week 4 to 6. The tone lightens significantly as part of the healing process, revealing a soft, natural blush.
